Twenty-five people, including some SAD leaders and Fazilka assistant jail superintendent Jashandeep Singh, were on Thursday booked in the sub-jail raid case.The police also impounded seven luxury cars reportedly used by the accused to travel to the jail; currency amounting to Rs 3.48 lakh was also seized from a car.
They have been booked under Sections 448, 188 and 120-B of the IPC.District Election Officer cum Deputy Commissioner Isha Kalia said a detailed report had been sent to the Chief Election Officer and Principal Secretary, Jails.
On the instructions of the Election Commission, Kalia, accompanied by Fazilka SSP Narinder Bhargav, raided the jail on Wednesday evening and found 24 people there reportedly conducting a secret meeting with liquor baron and former SAD Abohar halqa incharge Shiv Lal Doda.
The meeting was allegedly being held in connivance with jail authorities.Doda is in jail in connection with the murder of Abohar Dalit youth Bhim Sain.Sources said the accused were reportedly working out a strategy regarding Doda’s contesting election from Abohar. Doda had contested the 2012 Assembly election from Abohar as an independent candidate.
